On Tuesday, November 1st, Living Waters Catholic Separate School Divisional First Nations, Metis and Inuit team had the opportunity to listen and engage with Goota DesMaris. Goota Desmaris currently lives in Stony Plain but is from Kinngait Nunavut and she spent the morning bringing her Inuit traditions, perspective and ways of knowing to the team. She spoke proudly of her grandmother's words that we should "share our wealth" every day.
The First Nation, Metis and Inuit Division Team comes together up to three times throughout the year and is made up of teachers from across the division who learn and develop ways to support all staff across the division in teaching and applying foundational knowledge.
