From April 24th to 26th, a delegation of Trustees and Central Office participated in the First Nations, Metis and Inuit Annual Gathering in Edmonton. This year’s theme was about decolonizing education. A number of keynote speakers and break-out presenters shared their knowledge, experiences and stories. Much of the discussion was about unlearning, and relearning, history and the importance of creating authentic community through shared experience. The conference highlighted the work that remains in moving towards reconciliation and creating a better tomorrow for our First Nations, Metis and Inuit students.

On April 18th, four members of the Living Waters Catholic School Admin Team presented at ULead 2023: an internationally renowned leadership conference in Banff. The team shared their leadership experience and journey as the schools in Whitecourt reconfigure in the 2023/2024 school year. École St. Anne will provide quality Catholic education for students from JK- Grade 3. École St. Mary will become a Grade 4-6 school offering quality programming based on strong connections in a faith filled environment. École St. Joseph School will serve students from Grade 7 - 12 creating pathways to the future and Across the Waters will continue to provide alternative programming in an Outreach setting.

Congratulations to the team for their focus, collaboration and commitment to creating a school community dedicated to serving students on their educational journey from JK to graduation!

On April 20th, all schools from across the division presented their 2023/2024 education plans. Priorities aligned with the Living Waters Blueprint for the Future 6.0. The Board of Living Waters was impressed by the focus and goals of all schools.

In addition to reviewing the plans, the Board of Trustees took the time to engage all admin in conversation related to the roles and responsibilities of the Board in supporting staff, students and schools across the division.
