Early Learning Team Meeting

On October 28, 2022, the Living Waters Early Learning Team had the amazing opportunity to work with Mrs. Laurie McIntosh. Laurie McIntosh, better known as MsMackinders, spent the entire day inspiring our JK facilitators, Kindergarten facilitators and our Kindergarten teachers by sharing her expertise, wisdom and passion for early learning. The team looks forward to taking back the plethora of amazing ideas and lessons and incorporating them into their classrooms. Mrs. McIntosh will be returning in March to facilitate a day with all K-Grade 6 staff at the Living Waters Divisional Day.

Whitecourt Admin Team Meeting

In preparing for the opening of École St. Anne School, Administration Teams from the Whitecourt Community have been meeting regularly to plan for the new configurations of all Catholic Schools in Whitecourt. In 2023, staff, students and families can expect to see changes in the grade configurations of the schools in Whitecourt. École St. Anne will house our JK- Grade 3 programs with an emphasis on providing our youngest students with the opportunity to explore, discover and learn in a school designed for fun and wonder. École St. Mary will serve our Grade 4-6 students providing opportunities to learn and experiment in an environment designed for students to engage and collaborate in a flexible and open space. École St. Joseph School will officially become a Grade 7 - 12 JR/SR High school offering programming to meet the needs of our students in flexible and adaptive learning environments.

Annual Education Results Report Presentations at Slave Lake Schools

On October 24, 2022 the Board of Living Waters had the opportunity to attend the Annual Results Presentations at St. Mary of the Lake and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy in Slave Lake. Administration from the schools presented their 2021/2022 results to demonstrate their schools commitment to continuous improvement. Highlights included growth in literacy rates and the positive impact of learning supports. The Board of Trustees were pleased to hear about the increases in enrollment, and of the successes that both schools are experiencing at this time, and look forward to hearing more from the school about their future achievements.

On October 21, 2022 the Board of Living Waters had the opportunity to attend the Annual Results Presentations at Vanier Catholic Community School and Holy Redeemer School in Edson. Administration from the schools presented their 2021/2022 results to demonstrate their schools commitment to continuous improvement. Highlights included growth in literacy rates and the positive impact of learning supports. The Board of Trustees were pleased to hear about the successes that both schools are experiencing at this time, and look forward to hearing more from the school about their future achievements.

Board Meeting of October 25, 2022

On October 25, 2022, prior to the October Meeting of the Board, all Trustees had the opportunity to tour the new École St. Anne School. It will be a Jk-Grade 3 school and was officially named after the Grandmother of baby Jesus. Construction is on schedule and over the course of this school year, staff will be preparing for its opening in 2023. With the onboarding of a new school, École St. Mary will become a Grade 4-6 school and École St. Joseph School will be reconfigured to be a Grade 7-12 school. Religious Education Team Meeting

The Divisional Religious Education Team met for their first meeting of the school year on October 18, 2022. This team consists of a dedicated group of teachers committed to being faith leaders within their schools. Our team meets 3 times a year to work together on Divisional faith plans as well as staff and student faith formation activities. At this first meeting, we started to work on our new 3 Year Faith Plan that will start in the 2023-2024 school year. This plan will allow us to focus on building strong faith communities within all Living Waters schools. The Religious Education team also started to plan Student Retreat Days that will be held in each one of our 3 communities in the spring of 2023. It was certainly a productive day of planning for our Catholic schools!
Aspiring Leadership Cohort

Aspiring Leadership Cohort

On October 17, 2022, Living Waters held its first day for aspiring leaders. Aspiring Leaders is a new initiative being supported by the Board of Living Waters. Teachers interested in developing leadership and understanding leadership within Living Waters have been invited to participate in a variety of activities, learning and research that will occur over the course of the 2022/2023 school year. The cohort had the opportunity to create presentations that focussed on leaders that have influenced their own desire to be leaders. Participants were given homework to design action research projects. It was a great day of learning!

Curriculum Team Meeting

This year we are implementing a new curriculum for K-3 English Language Arts/ Literature and Math, as well as a new K-6 curriculum for Physical Education and Wellness. We have established our curriculum teams and have created a Concept approach for implementation in our division. The teams will meet 6 times throughout the school year to continue working on developing pacing guides, provocations, illustrative examples, assessments, and resources that teachers can use in their classrooms that align with the new curriculum and our division goals.
