November 11th is Remembrance Day. By remembering, we pay tribute to members of the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP who served to defend our values and freedoms. We also honour those who continue to serve our country today. In creating a better tomorrow, we pray for peace in our homes, our communities, across the country and the world.

Representatives from each school are completing SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) training to support English Language Learners in our schools. The training consists of four days of professional development where participants learn about strategies that can have a positive impact on achievement as well as the acquisition of language. Stephanie Dodyk, from the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium, is leading the training. We have worked with Stephanie over the last school year to enhance our repertoire of strategies for supporting ELL students in our classrooms and schools.

Elementary administrators aligned report card comment expectations, worked collaboratively to provide feedback on unit and year plans, and planned to implement program assessments.

Our Junior/Senior administrators also planned to implement program assessments as well as met with Senior administration to work on strategic planning.

Both groups were encouraged to explore how an outdoor classroom could be created at their schools.
